Mike Zimmer announced during a press conference this morning that the team has hired Joe Marciano to coordinate the special teams during Mike Priefer's absence. Marciano has been coaching special teams at the college and professional level since 1972. He has over 27 years of NFL coaching experience and made stops in New Orleans, Tampa Bay, and most recently with the Houston Texans. Maricano was fired following the 2013 season after his special teams group struggled and was near the bottom of the league in many key statistical categories.

Marciano was at the Vikings morning walkthrough this morning and will work with Mike Priefer, and special teams assistant Ryan Ficken to develop continuity.

Marciano will coach the team for three weeks, until Mike Priefer returns from his suspension.
