About Us

About the Writer:
Daniel House

As a young high school student, I decided to pursue my dream during my freshman year in high school. I wanted to combine my love for writing and sports by starting my own website, Vikings Corner. I hoped to gain experience at a young age because I had one vision in mind: to work in sports. I poured all my young energy, passion, and confidence into this goal. I reached out to mentors, conducted informational meetings, and put all my energy into growing as a writer.

After about a year of running my website, people wanted more content. I made it bigger, applied for a business license, and grew Vikings Corner to a level I never anticipated. The website has become one of the top Vikings blogs currently on the web. With over 8,700 Twitter followers and a steady readership, I have connected with passionate Vikings fans across the globe. I have gained so much valuable experience, while partnering with the likes of ESPN, Priority Sports, and many others for specific projects. I have covered the Vikings at training camp and during the NFL Draft at Winter Park. Vikings Corner recently turned five years old and has become more than just a website -- it is a community. There is nothing I enjoy more than connecting with fans and continuing to follow my vision. I have always used hard work, gratitude, confidence, and sacrifice as core principles during this journey. I have taken risks and used every success or failure as a learning experience.

I'm currently a junior at the University of Minnesota studying journalism in the Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication. In addition, I’m pursuing a sports mangement minor in the College of Education and Human Development. Attending the University of Minnesota has provided me with many opportunities to continue gaining experience. I now cover Minnesota Golden Gopher football and men’s basketball for GopherHole.com. It has been an elite experience covering a Big Ten program in one of the best athletic conferences in the country. During the NFL season, I also produce weekly fantasy football rankings for my mentor, Paul Charchian, at LeagueSafe.com
In the future, I hope to continue sharing stories with the world. There is nothing more rewarding than crafting a valuable story about an athlete, coach, or fan. At 20 years old, I have written feature stories, covered events, and walked the sidelines during games. I have done things I only dreamed I could do at my age. I continue to work hard at developing my craft and I never settle for anything less than perfection. More importantly, I remember where I came from and embrace the process every day.

I’m thankful to many of my mentors and family who have believed in me over the years. More importantly, I can't thank all of the readers enough for their continued support. Your words of encouragement mean more than you know. This is only beginning of my journey and I can't wait to see where my vision takes me.

  1. Do you see that Ponder is comparable to Alex Smith? Both of them are very smart and struggled in the beginning of their careers.

  2. Thanks for the question Bruce. I like the things that Ponder is doing early in camp. He just needs more confidence and consistency. Smith has struggled in his career and could be labeled comparable to Ponder, but I think Ponder has won more big games already than Smith has in his career.

  3. Isn't it really about fear? Ponder ducks and runs while other successful quarterbacks hang in there and complete the pass in the pocket. Seems like he just can't read the defense fast enough to hang in there and then he panics.
